About Zimbabwe Women in Agriculture (ZWAN)
Established in 2020 and backed by the women's quota in Agriculture, Zimbabwe Women Agribusiness Network works to promote women empowerment in Agribusiness.
ZWAN is a nonprofit organization registered with the Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) and is currently in the process of obtaining a trustee deed. ZWAN is affiliated with the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development as part of an initiative to promote climate action and sustainable farming practices. It was founded by Ms. Phillipa Jaya, who serves as the founder and executive director.

Education & Training
Championing climate-smart adaptive agricultural practices and scientific farming techniques through on-farm apprenticeship, mentoring, and Training of Trainers (TOT) to equip women with practical skills.
Crop & Animal Production
Driving success in crop cultivation (horticulture, cereals, grains, and fruit grafting) alongside livestock production using resilient, high-productivity breeds and sustainable animal husbandry practices including feedlots.
Agribusiness
Fostering viable agribusinesses by facilitating access to markets, finance (e.g., loan linkages with Zimbabwe Women's Bank), and value addition strategies to transform farming into profitable commercial enterprises.

Our impact accross Zimbabwe
DC Mutasa, Manicaland Province – Training focused on practical skills in mushroom farming, horticulture, and tree grafting. ZWAN also introduced strategies on how to market agricultural products effectively and tap into foreign currency opportunities, aiming to uplift rural communities by eradicating poverty through agribusiness under the motto “Learn, Work, Earn.”
Matabeleland North Province – A specialized training program focused on mushroom production, providing women with skills in low-cost, sustainable mushroom farming including spawn handling, substrate preparation, harvesting, and marketing. The initiative empowered participants to venture into high-value, low-land-use agribusiness.
Masvingo Province – Over 300 women participated in intensive, hands-on training on horticulture and mushroom farming led by ZWAN Agronomist Mr. Tongai Murembaremba.
